What are the results of a body lift surgery?

You are looking at staying in hospital from 2 to 4 days although this depends on the extent of the surgery. You will have dressings which will be removed after a couple of days. You can take a shower a couple of days following surgery.

You will have been given a special support garment which must be worn at all times except when showering or washing.

You can expect to be sore and there will be some bruising and swelling although this will ease after a few weeks. Painkillers will have prescribed to deal with any pain or discomfort.

What you will have to do is to stay at home for at least 6 weeks. During this time avoid any unnecessary stretching, bending or lifting and ask someone to help you with the normal everyday tasks.

Give yourself time to heal and recover. Take things easy and get as much rest as you can.

This is a demanding form of surgery which means a long recovery period. In regard to going back to work, it will be 6 to 8 weeks before you are able to do so.

Make sure you notify your employer well in advance of your operation as you will require up to two months off work.
