Who is not suitable for Ear reshaping surgery (Otoplasty)

Your surgeon will have a set of criteria to assess your suitability for an otoplasty. Your age and your health are the most important factors. If you have any chronic or underlying medical conditions then mention these to your surgeon. They may not automatically preclude you from surgery but you may place yourself at risk but not mentioning anything.

All surgery is risky and even though complications are rare they do happen. If you do have a health problem then this may increase the risk of something going wrong. If you have had surgery before or suffer from diabetes, heart or lung problems then mention this at your consultation.

Please note that if you are smoker a surgeon will refuse to operate unless you stop smoking. Smoking increases the risks of complications during or after surgery.
