Q8. How does laser treatment work?

A8. A slim laser is inserted into the damaged vein by means of a small incision. This laser emits a high energy beam of light into the damaged vein which is absorbed by the walls of the vein.

These walls become swollen and inflamed which causes them degrade and close up. The vein then shrinks and is gradually absorbed into the body.

There are a couple of options: an Nd YAG laser or an intense pulsed light (IPL) system.
