PENICILLIN V DRUG NAME: Phenoxymethylpenicillin (Penicillin V, compocillin) USE: antibiotic Penicillin V is an antibiotic that is commonly used to treat chest infections in children, otitis media, and streptococcal tonsillitis. It can also be used to treat dental abscesses. Dose: Penicillin V is taken orally. Adult dose is 500mg 4 times a day. Cautions: - allergy to penicillins - kidney impairment Side effects: Occasional: stomach upset. Rarely: hypersensitivity reaction, skin rash, diarrhoea, nervous system and blood disorders.
