Q20. What causes throat cancer?

A20. There is no single cause of throat cancer; rather it is caused by a variety of factors which include:

  • Smoking
  • Excess alcohol consumption
  • Prolonged sun exposure
  • Working with hazardous chemicals
  • Poor diet

It is difficult to pinpoint an exact cause but these factors are likely to increase someone’s risk of developing throat cancer.
