Bonjela
Bonjela is a pain-relieving oral gel, designed to relieve the pain associated with teething, mouth ulcers and denture sores.
Bonjela gel active ingredients are choline salicylate (a derivative of aspirin) and cetalkonium chloride. The active ingredients in Bonjela absorb into your gum to have a local effect.
Choline salicylate is an analgesic (NSAID). Cetalkonium chloride is an antiseptic.
Bonjela has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, & anti-bacterial properties:
- relieves pain
- reduces swelling/inflammation
- helps fight bacterial infection
Uses of bonjela
- Teething
- Mouth ulcers
- Denture sores
- Braces sore spots
Doseage of bonjela gel
The gel should be massaged into the sore area of the mouth with a clean fingertip. A single adult dose is just enough to cover the tip of your finger. You can use Bonjela gel once every three hours.
Side effects of bonjela
May cause ulceration if used excessively.
Cautions/Contraindications of bonjela
Not to be used in:
- infants under 4 months old
- if allergic to salicylates, eg aspirin
- if have an active peptic ulcer
