Q20. How long will I be off work?

A20. Everyone is different when it comes to the recovery period and some people do recover quicker than others. You will be advised to rest for the first week after surgery and to allow ten to fourteen days before resuming your normal activities.

In regards to work: if you work in an office then you are looking at two to three weeks away from your desk.

But if you have a job which is manual or involves some heavy lifting then you will be away from work for about a month.

Make sure you arrange this time off with your employer, well in advance of your surgery.
