It seems that plastic surgery in Australia and elsewhere is growing. What\u2019s more, it is being led by well known sports stars and other celebrities.<\/p>\n
Shane Warne, Australia\u2019s well known cricketer admitted that his shiny white teeth are more to do with cosmetic dentistry<\/a> than good hygiene.<\/p>\n What\u2019s the reason? The same as women \u2013 to stave off the aging process.<\/p>\n Speaking with a local newspaper one of Melbourne\u2019s plastic surgeons, Chris Moss said: \u201cTwenty per cent of patients are now male, up from 10 per cent five years ago, and 10 years ago most of his few male patients were getting reconstructive surgery for medical reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n He added ”But now we get a lot of men coming in for things like rhinoplasty<\/a> [nose jobs], upper and lower eyelid lifts, neck lifts and then things like Botox and fillers,.\u201d<\/p>\n The doctor believes that TV has had a lot to do with encouraging more and more men to have the \u2018injection\u2019, if not go under the knife. Dr Moss, said: ‘I see a lot of men now who are coming in for rejuvenation of their face because they basically want to present better in the workforce and prolong or optimise their careers.<\/p>\n ”These are men who are often in good jobs, who don’t want to look tired, who don’t want to look old, and who, basically, don’t want to be viewed to be out of date.”<\/p>\n Men are much more fashion conscious these days. Twenty years ago, the thought of having any form of cosmetic surgery<\/a> would have made most men run a mile. However as often is the case, when TV and other celebrities start to do something, others follow.<\/p>\n
