For most people, going under the knife is more about getting rid of unsightly blemishes, scars and wrinkles.<\/p>\n

Self-esteem plus simply feeling great about oneself are also probably valid reasons for cosmetic surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However is it a step to far for an individual to deliberately want to look like their idol?<\/p>\n

This question results from recent news that found a young, good looking man spent around $97,000 on cosmetic surgery for just one purpose \u2013 to look like his pop idol, Justin Bieber.<\/p>\n

Speaking with reporters, Toby Sheldon, a 33 year-old songwriter from Los Angeles said that he had to wait a full month for his smile recovery to be complete.<\/p>\n

The reason Toby gave for his transformational surgery was he had a fear of the aging process. However while this is a valid reason, it doesn\u2019t answer the question as to why the individual wanted to look like a pop star.<\/p>\n

Mr Sheldon however is unrepentant. He feels more confident and enjoys the notoriety cosmetic surgery has brought.<\/p>\n

However although Los Angeles is well known for bringing the weirdness out of people, it must be worrying for cosmetic surgeons in and outside of Los Angeles\u00a0 that people are effectively misusing the medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Cosmetic or plastic surgery has been around for thousands of years. Its traditional use is to treat medical problems such as wounds, and as an aftercare treatment for surgery.<\/p>\n

It is doubtful that it was envisaged that it would be used for trying to make someone look like someone else.<\/p>\n

Toby Sheldon\u2019s case isn\u2019t the only one though.<\/p>\n

It is also doubtful that it will be the last.<\/p>\n
