The vaccine rollout is continuing in the UK, as 44-year-olds in England have now been encouraged to book appointments. <\/p>\n
From Monday 26th April, 44-year-olds have been able to book their jab. Ministers have confirmed that more details will be made available in the coming days for those aged 40-44. The news comes as a new campaign has launched to urge younger adults to have the injection when their age groups are called. <\/p>\n
Over 60% of 45-49-year-olds have now had their first vaccine, paving the way for the next group to be vaccinated in the coming weeks. As the rollout extends to younger people, the government and public health experts are keen to maintain high uptake levels. Research has suggested that a higher proportion of younger people will be reluctant to have the Covid-19 jab when they are able to book. The campaign, which features TV adverts showing younger adults having their vaccine, is designed to ensure that under 50s understand that vaccination<\/a> is safe and that it will play a vital role in easing lockdown measures and protecting the population as a whole. <\/p>\n On Sunday 25th April, the UK delivered more than 600, 000 vaccines taking the total number of first vaccination doses to over 33.7 million. Over 12.5 million adults are now fully vaccinated. The government has confirmed that it is on track to offer a first vaccine to every UK adult by the end of July 2021. <\/p>\n Matt Hancock, the secretary of state for health and social care, praised teams around the country following a \u201chuge few days for vaccinations\u201d and confirmed that the rollout was now expanding to cover 44-year-olds who will be closely followed by over 40s. The NHS will be updating those in the eligible groups in the days ahead. Vaccines can be booked at local centres online.
