Covid booster vaccines will now be available at walk-in centres across England, as ministers and health chiefs step up efforts to encourage people to have the third jab.<\/p>\n
Previously, those who were eligible for the booster jab, which is administered six months after the second dose, had to make an appointment. Now, more than 30 million people who have had their second jab will be able to access the booster without booking an appointment in advance in the coming months. <\/p>\n
The latest statistics suggest that more than 6 million people in England have already had their booster vaccine and health chiefs are eager to ensure that as many people as possible get their booster as soon as they become eligible.<\/p>\n
The booster scheme began with priority groups, including the over 50s and health and social care workers. Adults who live with vulnerable people and younger adults who have underlying health issues were also prioritised for the booster dose. <\/p>\n
As more people become eligible after passing the 6-month milestone following their second vaccine, the NHS is ramping up the booster programme, providing walk-in jabs for individuals across England.<\/p>\n
The NHS walk-in finder tool, which is available online, enables people to find walk-in facilities and services in their local area. The pop-up sites are opening across England and the vast majority of people should find that there is a centre within 10 miles of their home. <\/p>\n
