Opticians in Scotland are urging people to take advantage of the free eye tests available north of the border as part of their New Year health kick.<\/p>\n
Scots are more likely to join a gym or start a diet<\/a> in the New Year than visit the dentist or have their eyes tested, yet many undetected health conditions can be diagnosed in the optician’s chair, as well having your eyesight checked out; something which is becoming more and more important as people spend hours working at computer screens.<\/p>\n Optometry Scotland, an organisation founded to represent the optometry industry in Scotland, is encouraging Scots to make an eye test part of their annual New Year changes. An eye test can not only establish of you need glasses, but can also give early indications of conditions such as high cholesterol levels, diabetes and even high blood pressure<\/a>.<\/p>\n Optometry Scotland\u2019s Chair, Peter Carson commented: \u201cThis is the time of the year to enjoy the festivities but all Scots should remember that when it comes to getting fit and healthy in the new year, they can take advantage of the free eye tests available at their local optometrist.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt is extremely important to get your eyes tested regularly to help avoid diseases which can be detected as well as ensuring there are no problems with the eyes themselves,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Opticians in Scotland are urging people to take advantage of the free eye tests available north of the border as part of their New Year health kick.
