Denplan the UK based insurance company, Oral B the well known toothpaste<\/a> manufacturer and others are joining forces to hold a seminar about dental<\/a> prevention.<\/p>\n

The focus on the seminar will be how minimal intervention (MI) can help in dental care. The title will be MI: Examine the Future of Preventive Care \u2013 Profitable Minimal Intervention Dentistry.<\/p>\n

Speaking with reporters, Roger Matthews, chief dental officer at Denplan, said: \u201cI’ve been a keen supporter of minimal intervention \u2013 opting for preventive measures where possible, minimally invasive restorations, and treating caries and periodontitis as infectious diseases amenable to a medical as well as a surgical approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThat’s why I’m so looking forward to Denplan’s MI Seminars, which utilise our connections with other national brands such as Oral B, GC and Velopex.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese hands-on workshops not only reflect our passion for MI dentistry, but show how DCPs can make it profitable in the real world, as well as eight hours of verifiable CPD.\u201d<\/p>\n

A number of well known dental scientists will attend the seminar as guest speakers. These include Dr Avi Bannerjee from Guy’s Dental School and Dr Louis MacKenzie of Birmingham Dental School. They will be talking about the evidence basis for MI and how it will be useful and profitable for dentists.<\/p>\n

Other seminars proposed by Denplan and Oral B will be about the range of dental applications such as intra-oral imaging, airbrasion techniques and dental plaque imaging analysis now being used in dental practice.<\/p>\n
