A mother was abused by internet forum users recently when she posted her ideas and plans for what she wanted to see happen to her eggs.<\/p>\n

The mother in question has a 2 year old daughter who suffers from Turner Syndrome, which is a chromosomal abnormality where one of the X chromosomes is either partially or completely missing. This results in infertility<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other associated medical problems include kidney, bone and heart disorders, thyroid problems and hearing and ear problems.<\/p>\n

The mother of the 2 year old decided to freeze her own eggs for future use by her daughter.<\/p>\n

Leaving aside the moral and ethical dilemmas this poses, the poor mother decided to post her plans on a parenting web site only to be abused. Whether or not people support what she is doing, posting nasty, personal comments, some of which were directed at the daughter is reprehensible.<\/p>\n

The site did remove the abusive posts, but it must have left the mother with a sickening feeling that some people prefer to abuse rather than discuss rationally. Infertility is an emotive subject at the best of times, but to post disparaging comments should never be tolerated.<\/p>\n

When asked about these comments the mother said: “Just think about the situation before you judge me. Think about why I’m doing it.”<\/p>\n

She added: “I’m looking at it as donating an organ.<\/p>\n

“Any part of your body that they’d [children] need you’d give to them, please think of the wider picture before you say anything. Think of the future of my child.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
