AUGMENTIN
Drug name: Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid (Co-amoxiclav)
Use: Antibiotic - broad spectrum penicillin
Co-amoxiclav is a combination antibiotic containing Amoxicillin (as either trihydate or the sodium salt) and Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate).
The combination of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid results in an antibiotic with an increased spectrum of action and restored efficacy against ß-lactamase producing amoxicillin-resistant bacteria.
