Chancroid

Chancroid is a tropical sexually transmitted disease.

Chancroid is an infectious, nonsyphilitic venereal ulcer of the genital region caused by infection with Haemophilus ducreyi.

Once infected, a chancre (a painful ulcer) begins to appear after an incubation period of 3 to 5 days.

Also called soft ulcer, venereal ulcer.
