Rainbow diet
The main issue here is to have a wide variety of foods in your diet. In regard to fruit and vegetables, go for what is termed the ‘rainbow’ selection, which will ensure that you get all the vitamins and minerals that you need. This means having a wide range of colour in your diet.
For example, with fruit, choose from oranges, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peaches or nectarines and apples (green).
With vegetables, choose from red, yellow, orange or green peppers: brassica’s such as cauliflower and cabbage: root vegetables such as parsnips, carrots or sweet potato, onions and artichokes.
