Q10. Does circumcision mean that the penis is easier to clean?

A10. People argue that being circumcised means that the penis is less likely to attract germs and bacteria which are a cause of infection.

The reason for this is smegma: the foreskin contains glands which produce smegma which can become trapped beneath the foreskin. This can result in inflammation and infection.

Removal of the foreskin reduces the risk of this happening.

However, following a good hygiene routine which involves rinsing around the penis will help to prevent this. This works equally well for uncircumcised and circumcised men.
