Q24. What are the risks of food poisoning in children?

A24. Children are at increased risk due to the fact that their immune systems are less effective than adults at fighting disease and infection.

Children develop a whole range of infections at this stage in life which helps them to build immunity but if the infection is too strong then it will have adverse effects.

There is also the fact that children especially toddlers are unconcerned by issues of food safety and hygiene. They will drop food on the floor and then eat it right away or will make poor food choices.

Children are one of the high risk groups for food poisoning.
