Q9. What type of hearing aid will suit me?

A9. This depends upon the type of hearing loss you have and the extent of the damage. You will be advised in this by an audiologist who will explain the different hearing aids to you and how they can help.

If you need a hearing aid then you have a choice between obtaining one on the NHS (which is free) or buying one from a private dispenser. If you opt to buy your hearing aid then you will have a greater range of options than an NHS one but this can be a costly option. There are a range of hearing aids which include:

  • Behind the ear
  • In the ear
  • In the canal
  • Disposable hearing aids

A comprehensive section on hearing aids can be found within our hearing loss treatments section.
