What are the symptoms of house dust mite allergy?

House dust mite faeces can be breathed in, causing symptoms similar to that of asthma or hayfever, can irritate the eye, causing allergic conjunctivitis, or can irritate the skin causing aggravations of atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis usually occurs in children and infants.

Asthma-like symptoms include coughing, wheezing, having difficulty breathing (because your airways are tightened). Hay fever-like symptoms include a blocked nose, a runny nose, or sneezing. You might also cough up large amounts of sputum. Allergic conjunctivitis can involve itching and watering of the eyes. Atopic dermatitis can involve a rash that may be red, flaky, dry, and itchy. Symptoms can keep you awake at night and result in fatigue.

Air pollution can make symptoms worse as well. Air pollution can include dust, smog, car fumes, and cigarette smoke.
