Q1. What is hair transplant surgery?

A1. This is a surgical procedure in which hair is removed from one area of the head and implanted into another in order to achieve a full head of hair. Hair is taken from the back and sides of the head – which is known as the ‘donor site’ and is then inserted into the bald area of the head – known as the ‘recipient site’.

It involves the harvesting of units of hair follicles or small grafts which are then placed in the area of the scalp where there is hair loss. These follicles will grow new hair over a period of a few months.
