VIAGRA Drugn name: Sildenafil citrate Brand name: Viagra Use: Erectile dysfunction (impotence) Viagra is a phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor. It works by increasing blood into the penis when sexually excited to cause an erection. Dose: 50mg 1 hour before sexual activity. Maximum one dose per 24 hours. Onset of effect may be delayed if taken with food. Viagra is effective for 4 hours. Cautions: - heart disease Contra-indications: - use of nitrates Side effects: The most common side effects include headache, indigestion and facial flushing. Occasional: - indigestion/heartburn Rarely: - Prolonged erection Serious cardiovascular events have also been reported (eg. heart attack).
