What should my first aid kit contain?

It is always a good idea to have first aid kit nearby and you should remember to take one with you if you go out for the day or away on holiday; it’s also advisable to have one in the car. If you have small children you can now buy specialist baby and children’s first aid kits.  A good baby first aid kit should contain the following items:

  • First aid scissors
  • Disposable thermometers
  • Burnblott sachets
  • Absorbent dressings
  • Adhesive tape
  • Hypoallergenic plasters (of various different sizes)
  • Sterile eye wash
  • Bandages
  • Medication (if your child regularly takes medication; for example if they have asthma, it is always a good idea to have a spare inhaler with you)
  • Pain relief medication (suitable for your child’s age; check with your pharmacist or GP first)
