Problems which may affect exercising

Many women find that they don’t have time to fit in regular exercise once they have had their baby; if you’re stretched for time, try to ask somebody to babysit for you for half an hour a day or get yourself a DVD to do at home while your baby is sleeping. You can also take your baby out for walks in their pram to allow you to get out of the house and do some exercise.

Some women find it hard to get motivated to exercise once they have had a baby; if this is the case, try joining a postnatal class or get together with some friends and do a class together.

If you don’t feel comfortable exercising in front of other people, try doing a fitness DVD at home; you can do it at your own pace and you don’t have to see anybody else while you’re exercising; you can also do the DVD while looking after your baby, so you don’t need to worry about organising childcare or making up extra bottles.
