Q1. What is ‘acne vulgaris’?

A1. Acne vulgaris is the medical term for the most common type of acne. It is a skin condition which particularly affects adolescents and manifests itself as an ‘outbreak’ of blackheads and other non-inflammatory spots or inflamed pimples, nodules and cysts.

Usually develops on the face although the body may also be affected. If it occurs on the body then it usually appears on the neck, back, chest and shoulders.
