Q7. How much does an abortion cost?

A7. Costs vary between clinics which depend upon various factors such as the stage of your pregnancy and the type of abortion you need.

If you are thinking of a private abortion then you will find that fees differ between clinics based upon the location of the clinic, their facilities and the treatment.

You can have an abortion for free via the NHS. It means a longer wait than at a private clinic but it does mean that you do not have to pay for treatment.

If you prefer to ‘go private’ then as a rough guide you can expect to pay £400 to £800 for an abortion. Late term abortions are more expensive and can cost in the region of £2,000 or more.

This is discussed in greater detail in our where to get an abortion section.
