CHIN AUGMENTATION SURGERY

Chin augmentation surgery may be chosen by those who are not happy with the size and shape of their chin.

Chin augmentation is usually achieved by placing an artificial implant under the skin. The implants are typically made from silicone or elastomer.

Chin augmentation surgery is often combined with nose reshaping to improve the whole facial profile.

What's involved?

Chin augmentation procedure is will usually be performed under general anaesthetic and require an overnight hospital stay.

You will have a consultation with a facial surgeon prior to surgery to discuss the options available to you and to ensure that surgery is right for you.

The operation:

The surgeon will make a cut in your skin, usually under the chin (in the chin crease) to create a pocket under the skin. The chin implant is then inserted into this pocket & the wound closed with stitches.

A compression bandage is usually worn for a couple of days to minimise swelling.

Pain & bruising is common after chin augmentation surgery, and usually lasts a few days.
